IYC has been a proud host to dozens of charity events over many years, including Women Swimmin', Ithaca Chill Challenge, Pretty in Pink and Camp PALS. We are pleased to be able to share our unique venue with our neighbors to support worthy charitable organizations such as Hospicare, Ithaca Community Recovery and Breast Cancer Survivors
Special thanks to IYC boaters Jeff Spence and Richard and Melissa Stephens for participating in the Ithaca Youth Bureau Big Brothers Big Sisters boating event recently held at IYC on Aug. 23. IYC had three boats on the water and hosted five pairs of IYB children and adults. From all accounts, everyone enjoyed their time on the boats, while discussing everything from how to read the wind on the water to glacial formation of the lake.
We hope to continue this collaboration next year and hope to pick up more participants at both IYB and IYC.
Thanks for your support,
The first annual visit of Camp PALS to Ithaca was topped off with a dinner and evening cruise at IYC. Volunteer boaters from IYC treated campers, counselors and staff from Camp PALS to a wonderful cruise aboard their yachts. There was great excitement, a lot of tooting, hooting and hollering. And the campers had a good time too.
The second annual Ithaca Chill Challenge was hosted January 1st, 2017. Over $27,000 was raised to support the Ithaca Community Recovery. New York Troopers were the first to dive into the icy waters of Cayuga Lake to ensure the area was safe for swimmers. Even Ithaca's own police chief John Barber went for a swim to help support this worthy cause.
PINK, the largest Ithaca-area fundraiser for Camp Good Days, honors women affected by cancer. Funds raised at this event support the Camp's women's oncology program, sending more than 100 women each year from this area on a specially developed retreat where they are surrounded by others experiencing the same medical challenges. These women attend free-of-charge thanks to the vast support provided by the community.
